Started by my great grandparents, the French American Bakery was the first of its kind in Los Angeles. Serving the immigrant populations flooding to LA from all over the world, they especially took pride in their perfect sourdough loaf. The bakery survived until 1987 when it was sold to a competitor who sadly demolished the building. This project was made in tribute to my ancestors, and to the immigrants who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much to allow us to be where we are today.
