The word ‘hulu’ in Mandarin is used in an ancient Chinese proverb. It describes the Hulu as the holder of precious things. It literally translates to “gourd,” and in ancient times, the Hulu was hollowed out and used to hold precious things.

I took this concept along with the Hulu tradition of receiving kind notes from coworkers on anniversaries, and created a ‘message in a bottle’. The commemorative bottle is housed in a box and sits on top of the bonus check and letter from the CEO.
